Charge via local gift cards

Local gift cards are set up in the cash register as an open payment method. This means the system does not know the balance of the card. The cashier must check whether the card covers the full purchase or if the payment needs to be combined with another payment method.

Steps

1. Add products to the cart.
2. Receive the gift card from the customer.
3. Check the gift card balance, to see if it covers the whole purchase.

   The balance cannot be checked in the cash register. Use the card itself or external instructions to find out how much value remains.

If the gift card covers the full purchase

1. Press the local gift cards payment button.
2. Choose a receipt option.
3. If there is still money left on the gift card after the purchase, inform the customer (and make a note on the gift card) about the remaining balance and return the card.

If the gift card does not cover the full purchase

Process a split payment:

• First, use the remaining balance on the gift card.
• Then, complete the rest of the payment with another method (e.g. card or cash).
